Lightning is an atmospheric discharge of electricity accompanied by thunder which typically occurs during thunderstorms. Malaysia ranks as one of the highest lightning activities in the world, where the average-thunder day level for Kuala Lumpur is within 180 - 300 days per annum. Thus, it arises a major concern in the survivability of your PABX or Key Telephone System during thunderstorms.

PABX and Key Telephone System is connected to external cables that exposed to lightning strikes. A single strike can cause damages ranging from a minor defect such as failure of a telephone extension to a serious damages such as total system failure. Such damages would certainly affected company's daily operation.

Although many people would term damages due to lightning as "Act of God". Nevertheless, attempt to minimise such damages can be taken by installing an effective lightning arrester......

The recommended grounding is less than "1 Ohm".

Many organisations do not adhere to this recommendation due to cost restriction and ultimately suffered with high repair cost for damages due to lightning strikes.
